According to its website, Arlington Garden is Pasadena’s only dedicated public garden, though the city has many parks. Since my stepmother is a keen gardener and she and my father belong to the Holden Arboretum, my aunt thought it would make a good stop on our tour.
My uncle Robert had to borrow my husband’s spare hat, which we keep in the car, due to the excess of sun, since it was very hot for April and Robert has only a little more hair than Stefan does. After seeing the proliferation of honeybees, Stefan begged off altogether and betook himself to the shade by the car.
It’s a fabulous garden, not too enormous to walk through but quite extensive and beautiful, and notable for the fact that the plants are all suited to the dry Mediterranean climate.
